My approach to counselling
I work as an integrative counsellor, meaning I tailor therapy to each individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. My core training is person-centred, which places the therapeutic relationship, empathy, and acceptance at the heart of our work.
Alongside this, I may gently integrate elements from other therapeutic approaches where appropriate and collaboratively agreed. These may include:
-
Transactional Analysis (TA)
-
Inner child work
-
Attachment-based understanding
-
CBT-informed techniques
-
Somatic and body-aware approaches
This allows us to explore not only thoughts and emotions, but also patterns, early experiences, and how stress or emotion may be held in the body.
What sessions are like
Counselling sessions are led by you. Some sessions may involve talking, reflection, or exploring patterns in relationships, while others may focus on developing awareness of emotions, needs, or bodily responses.
There is no pressure to share anything before you feel ready. We work at a pace that feels safe and manageable, with regular check-ins to ensure the work feels supportive and helpful for you.
Safety, boundaries, and ethics
Client wellbeing, informed consent, and confidentiality are central to my practice. I am committed to ethical working, ongoing professional development, and reflective practice.
Is this the right counselling for you?
Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision. I offer an initial conversation so you can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide whether counselling with me feels like a good fit.
